About Annihilation RC
My name is Chad Kent, and I’ve been building and racing RC cars in Texas and Oklahoma for over five years now.
When I got started, I made just about every mistake you can imagine. Because of that, it took a lot longer than it should have for me to reach the point where racing was consistently fun instead of frustrating.
I’m incredibly grateful I didn’t give up. I would have missed out on a lot of amazing experiences.
And I don’t want you to give up either. That’s why I started Annihilation RC—to make it easier for people to get into RC dirt-oval racing, learn the basics faster, and enjoy the hobby sooner.
Why “Annihilation RC”?
Annihilation RC is a spin-off of the robotics team my sons created more than six years ago: Annihilation Robotics.
Since they were 11, my boys have competed in all kinds of robotics events—BattleBots, FPV drone racing, engineering challenges, and a variety of other amazing projects.
Advice for New Racers
- Visit your local track BEFORE buying a car
- If possible, buy your car at your local track hobby shop
- Start in a beginner class
- Focus on fun, not lap times or finishing position
I’ve always been passionate about racing, but I was never a builder—until my son Chase started teaching me how his robots worked. That caused a lightbulb to go off for me and now I can’t stop building.
RC racing has become the perfect combination of my two passions: building and racing. Learning how to construct, tune, and set up my own cars has even given me a completely new perspective on full-scale racing and what makes a vehicle truly perform.

How I Got Started
I started RC racing looking for something fun to do with my sons. The first time I put my car on the track, I texted my wife saying, “We might be in trouble. This is a LOT of fun.”
Mistakes I Made
I didn’t ask for advice before buying my first car and I tried to “make it work” instead of admitting my mistake and buying the right equipment. It cost me time, money, and a lot of unnecessary frustration.
Goals for this Site
Help new racers avoid frustration, learn faster, and enjoy RC racing without feeling overwhelmed.
